Sending in your CV/Completing an application
First impressions count! Make sure your work is presentable. Check your spelling and grammar and have a friend read it through for you for an honest critique. Check that your CV is up to date and account for any gaps. If you took some time out or went traveling then say so, these life experiences can teach you a lot of skills which is important to us.
Your covering letter should reinforce your CV, be sure to highlight any relevant skills, knowledge or experience for the role you are applying for. If you’re completing an application form, read it through a couple of times before you complete it. Think about what’s being asked of you, and be sure to complete all sections of the form.
Dress to impress. Wear something smart and appropriate for the role you are applying for. Be prepared. Don’t come to the interview without knowing some basics about the Holden Group. Who are we? What do we do? Who are our competitors? All the info you need is on this website, and more can be found online.
Have confidence. If you arrive here feeling positive and enthusiastic you’re likely to make a great impression on us. We like people who smile and speak clearly, communication is a big part of what we do.Know and believe your reasons for wanting to work here. What excites you about it, how well do you think you will fit it, and what kind of impression do you think you will make.
Know the job role that you are applying for or would like us to consider you for. Think about what sort of person would suit the role, does it sound like you and can you back it up with experience, and/or qualifications? Be ready to answer questions and draw on your own experiences. Try to remember instances where you’ve had to demonstrate skills that may be required of you in your new role. What did you do, how did you do it, what results did you achieve, how did it make you feel? Sell your personal strengths.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Just as some people may not be right for us, we may not be right for you. Asking questions shows you are interested and that you and have given some thought to the role.Finally, let your personality shine through. We’re a people business, and it would be a little boring if everyone were the same, if you have an interesting story to tell us about yourself then please do.
