Kia PV5 Chassis Confirmed with 71.2kWh Long Range Battery for the UK
Kia has revealed further details of the new Kia PV5 Chassis, confirming that UK models will be offered exclusively with a 71.2kWh Long Range battery. Designed with businesses and fleets in mind, the fully electric Chassis combines flexible conversion options with greater battery capacity for longer and more demanding working days.
The 71.2kWh Long Range model offers a power output of 120kW and supports DC rapid charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10 to 80% in approximately 30 minutes. Using an 11kW AC supply, charging from 10 to 100% takes approximately six hours and 30 minutes.
Built for business
As part of Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) line-up, the Kia PV5 Chassis has been developed to provide a versatile, fully electric base for a variety of professional conversions. Its compact, sub-five-metre dimensions and 5.5-metre turning radius make it well suited to operating in urban environments, depots, building sites and other areas where manoeuvrability is important.
For UK customers, official Kia PBV Conversion Partner TGS Automotive Group can provide Lightweight Tipper, Dropside and Box solutions for the PV5 Chassis, alongside modular options including Mesh Cage, Fall Arrest Systems, Chapter 8 and Beacons. These conversions are currently planned for launch in Q4 2026.
Greater flexibility for everyday operations
The larger 71.2kWh battery gives businesses greater flexibility when considering route length, charging opportunities and vehicle configuration, particularly for operations with longer or less predictable daily journeys.
Final range and payload will depend on the completed conversion, vehicle specification, equipment, load, route and operating conditions.
The Kia PV5 Chassis joins Cargo and Passenger models within the wider PV5 line-up, extending the options available to businesses looking to make the move to electric. Built on Kia’s PBV-dedicated Electric-Global Modular Platform for Service (E-GMP.S), the Chassis is specifically engineered to accommodate application-specific bodies.
