What's Included?
Insurance Cover
Motability will arrange your insurance. You can add up to three drivers and can change these at any time.
Servicing and MOT
Motability will cover your regular services and routine repairs, to keep your vehicle running perfectly.
Breakdown Cover
Motability will give you breakdown cover so you can travel with peace of mind. If you get a car or a WAVWheelchair Accessible Vehicle, you’ll get RAC cover.
Support with Your Electric Car
Motability will arrange and cover the cost of a home chargepoint and a standard installation, or give you access to the bp pulse network of over 9,000 public chargepoints.
How the Motability Scheme works

To join the scheme, an individual must receive one of the following benefits:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)
- Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)
- War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
- Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

The scheme offers a choice of over 2,000 car models from multiple manufacturers, with various adaptions available to suit the driver’s or passenger’s specific needs. Customers can lease a car for a three-year term or a powered wheelchair or scooter for a three- to five-year term, depending on the chosen vehicle or device.

The Motability Scheme is designed to be all-inclusive. The lease package typically covers insurance, breakdown cover, servicing, maintenance, and tyre replacement. A small initial payment is followed by the deduction of a portion or all of the individual’s mobility allowance directly to cover costs.

The scheme offers a wide range of vehicle adaptations at no or low cost, making driving or riding more comfortable for those with unique mobility needs.

At the end of the lease term, customers can choose to:
- Exchange for a new vehicle under a renewed lease agreement.
- Return the vehicle if they no longer wish to participate in the scheme.
